At HPW Architecture, we’re all about designing spaces that enhance lives—and that includes supporting mental health. That’s why I’m excited to introduce Hugo, our newest team member and Chief Encouragement Officer (CEO). Hugo is a Springador with boundless energy and a heart as big as his ears, and he’s here to remind us that sometimes the best solutions come with a wagging tail!
Why Mental Health is Part of Our Blueprint
Recently Sophie Matthews HPW Business Manager has completed a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Advocacy in the Workplace, and it has reinforced how important well-being is in both personal and professional spaces. Studies show that pets, especially dogs, can reduce stress and improve mood—something we’ve already seen firsthand with Hugo around.
We believe architecture should inspire both mind and body. Hugo’s presence is a daily reminder that well-being is as essential to a thriving workplace as great design. Whether he’s sitting in on meetings (or napping through them), he’s helping us bring a fresh, human-centred perspective to our work.
Join Us in Celebrating #Barkitecture
We’ll be sharing more of Hugo’s adventures and insights into how we’re integrating mental health advocacy into our practice.
We’d love to hear how pets - or other well-being initiatives - have made a difference in your workplace.
