hpw architecture blog

For nearly four decades, HPW has been guided by a simple belief: good design improves lives.

At HPW, we’ve always believed that architecture goes far beyond design. It’s about influencing environments, shaping behaviours, and delivering exceptional experiences that last.

We’ve had a few people get in touch about our recent website update, so we thought it was time to properly introduce HPW’s new CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer), Hugo the Springador! 🐾

From humble beginnings in our founder’s garage to working proudly from one of our own co-working space projects, our journey has always been guided by purposeful design, strong relationships, and excellence in delivery.

Happy New Year from all of us at HPW!

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Frank Owen Gehry. A Canadian American architect and designer, Gehry was celebrated for his postmodern approach and bold, unconventional use of form and materials.

It’s hard to believe that almost a year has passed since we celebrated an unforgettable evening at the New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards.

After almost 40 years, HPW has evolved into a multi disciplinary, client focused practice built on creativity, collaboration, and craft.

It’s no secret, at HPW, we love orange. But our appreciation for this vibrant colour goes far beyond aesthetics.

It’s not just a mug. It’s a mindset. At hpw Architecture, we know that the details matter whether it’s the curve of a handle, the colour inside a cup, or the light that enters a workspace at 3PM on a Tuesday.

We’re big believers in celebrating the people who make HPW what it is — and this month, we’re wishing a very happy birthday to Sophie Matthews! Thank you for everything you bring to the team!

A big thank you from everyone at HPW! 🌟 We’ve received our first Google reviews — both ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — and we’re so grateful.

2025 marks 39 years since Alan Powell founded HPW Architecture - what a journey it’s been!

This time we’re turning the spotlight on Alan Powell, founder and director of HPW Architecture.

At HPW Architecture, we’re all about designing spaces that enhance lives—and that includes supporting mental health.

Ever wondered how an idea becomes a building? Our project at Freshwater Beach Holiday Park was inspired by its beautiful surroundings.
